Dimitri Repanis

Dimitri been art directing/designing since 1992 and has a passion for translating and communicating ideas, themes and values into filmic visual cues whatever the medium or style. He take pride in delivering to a brief as well as bringing the project in on-budget. He is accustomed to taking an active role in the process finding the right locations. He is proud to have been part of the huge swing in advertising towards Afrocentric stories from the outset and to be mentoring up and coming talent in the art department both locally and across Africa. He has won a few Loerie Awards and nominations for art directing. A 2003 S.A.F.T.A. nomination for best Production Design in a Feature Film. He art directed the SA Tourism film ‘Bheki the Mbhaco Maker’ which at International Tourism Film Festival – beat 331 films from 52 countries to take the Grand Prix Award, as well as Best Country Film and Best African Film. He based in Joburg, and works frequently in Cape Town and Durban. He holds a Greek/EU passport as well as South African.
